What is Urea?
Urea is a natural moisturising factor contained within normal human skin and has been widely used as a topical moisturiser for nearly four decades. Urea is thought to make up approximately 7% of the composition of the skins own natural moisturising factor. Creams containing urea can be particularly effective moisturisers for the treatment of anhydrosis in patients with diabetes. Creams with 25% urea are highly effective for severely dry and callused skin and at a concentration of 10% urea, skin moisture levels will be restored and maintained.
